How to Make the Most Out of Your Bathroom Remodel
Author: Jane Worthington
Are you one of those people who will do anything to avoid a remodel? At some point, you will have to face your fear! The two rooms that often need the most work are the bathroom and the kitchen. It is due to the constant flux in temperature and humidity that these two rooms require the most repairs. You need appliances and furnishings that are built to withstand the extremes but any piece of furniture, no matter how well cared for, will eventually need to retire. Do you have a leaky sink faucet? What about a rusted bathtub spout? These are common issues and are not difficult to fix. Once you make the minor adjustments, your bathroom will look as good as new. Just remember, a bathroom remodel can be fun so enjoy the process! Do not let it stress you out.
If you have decided to do some work on your bathroom, make sure that you do everything right the first time. Nothing is more discouraging then changing out the problem fixtures to discovering that there were other problems and you need to start all over again! In order to avoid this situation, do a complete inspection of the bathroom in question. Is your bathroom vanity rotted out on the back or the bottom due to the leaky faucets? Is your bathtub cracked in several different places and the caulk is falling off? Once you start looking closely, all those little problems you might have been ignoring for years have finally come to the surface. Do not do only half the job when you take on this bathroom remodel, go the whole way!
Hire a contractor to come down and look at the damage. Contractors are expensive, however, you can save money by shopping for your new items online. It is best to get an expert opinion before you start because it is such a big job, you want to get everything right the first time. Make sure to invest in quality materials and quality work from the beginning; this tactic will save you hundreds of dollars in the end. Take the time to research different regular, clawfoot, and whirlpool bathtubs, vanities, and hardware so that you can find something that will look good for years as well as stay in great working condition. The better job you do this time around, the less likely you will have to do another bathroom remodel in the future!
